Kenner’s code limits residential fences to wood, wrought iron, solid plastic, chain-link, masonry, or a hedge — fragile materials like paper, cloth, or canvas aren’t allowed. There’s no single numeric height cap in the ordinance, but any fence over 8 feet has to be non-combustible, and barbed wire can’t sit less than 7 feet above the ground along a public street, park, or neighboring property. Every fence also has to stay entirely on your property, clear of rights-of-way and utility servitudes. We’ll make sure your fence is built to code before we start.
